Understanding Your Support at Home Package
Support at Home is the Australian Government’s new in-home aged care program, starting on 1 November 2025.
It is designed to make it easier to get the right help at home, with:
- 8 funding levels so support can better match your needs
- Improved access to clinical care, allied health and rehabilitation.
- Clearer assessments and reviews, so your services can be adjusted as your needs change.
- Specific funding for equipment and home modifications, to keep you safe and independent at home.
Support at Home replaces previous programs including Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC). If you were already receiving a Home Care Package, you’ll transition to Support at Home and keep a comparable funding level, with the opportunity to be re-assessed if your needs increase.
Who is eligible?
- Australians aged 65 and over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50+
- Australians aged 50+ who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
WHO IS SUPPORT AT HOME FOR?
From 1 November 2025, everyone approved for home support will be part of the new Support at Home program.
What this means for you depends on when you were first approved for government-funded care.
